Important changes to eBay selling

A Pro seller is a seller with an active Pro subscription. Our Pro subscription has four different plans: Pro Starter, Pro Basic, Pro Featured, and Pro Anchor. Sellers who have more than AU $25,000 in sales in the past 12 months will be automatically upgraded to a Pro Starter plan. Any sellers can choose to subscribe to any of the four Pro plans at any time to access advanced selling features and expanded payout and shipping options.

From late April, we're making it free to sell for Australia-based sellers with up to $25,000 in sales in past 12 months. Free selling will not be available to sellers with a Pro subscription (referred to as Pro sellers). 

If you are eligible for free selling, you can decide to cancel your subscription. Eligible sellers moving to a Pro Starter plan will have the option to opt out of the Pro Starter plan in late April and will receive an additional email at this time with instructions.

Please note, if you choose to opt out of your Pro subscription to take advantage of free selling, any active listings using advanced selling features will be adjusted and you’ll be able to review the details of these changes prior to opting out. 

If you do not qualify for free selling, or you want to take advantage of a Pro subscription with no monthly subscription cost, you may choose to downgrade to our new Pro Starter plan but you’ll lose access to API/third-party integrations, and marketing and discount tools, including volume pricing. The Pro Starter plan has no monthly subscription cost and the final value fee is 13.4% for most categories. If you’re currently ineligible for free selling and later become eligible, you can choose to cancel your Pro subscription from the Manage Subscription page in Seller Hub.

Yes, if you are eligible for free selling (you are an Australia-based seller with less than $25,000 in sales in the last 12 months), you can cancel your subscription and move to free selling from the beginning of the next month. Please note, if you choose to opt out of a Pro plan to take advantage of free selling, any active listings using advanced selling features will be adjusted. You will be reminded of these changes prior to opting out.

If you are eligible for free selling and would prefer to not have a Pro Starter plan, you will have the option to opt out of the Pro Starter plan before 11:59pm 30 April. If you do not opt out of your Pro Starter plan before this time, your Pro subscription will begin on 1 May and you must wait until the beginning of the following month to access free selling.

If you are not eligible for free selling, you will not have the option to opt out of the Pro Starter plan.

Yes, advanced selling features such as multi-quantity listings and listing with variations, choice of shipping and payout options are exclusive to sellers with a Pro subscription. If you opt out of your Pro plan to take advantage of free selling, you will lose access to advanced selling features and shipping and payout options. 

We’re renaming Store subscriptions to Pro subscriptions and introducing additional advanced selling features. Existing subscribers will automatically transition to the equivalent Pro plan.

No, there are no changes to your current subscription or transaction fees as part of this update.

You’ll be automatically moved to the corresponding Pro subscription starting 1 May 2026. No action is required.

Consider the features available to sellers with a Pro subscription. If you rely on any of these advanced selling tools, want to scale your business with marketing tools or scaling programs, or use integrations, a Pro subscription is likely the better fit for you. Casual sellers with limited use of these features may benefit from free selling. Compare plans and their benefits. 

Your plan is based on your selling activity and/or use of advanced selling tools. If you have over $25,000 in sales in the last 12 months, you will be auto-subscribed to a Pro Starter plan, and will access the exclusive benefits available to sellers with a Pro subscription.

If you are currently using advanced selling features which are becoming exclusive to sellers with a Pro subscription, we believe you’ll have the best selling experience with a Pro Starter plan. This helps ensure you continue to have access to the features you rely on.

Yes, you can upgrade and downgrade your Pro plans at any time. You can only cancel your subscription if you have AU $25,000 or less sales in the past 12 months. Learn more about selling fees and how your sales are evaluated

We have introduced Buyer Protection on all purchases to give buyers greater confidence when shopping. Listings from Pro sellers include Buyer Protection at no additional cost to the buyer or the seller.

For sellers without a Pro subscription, a mandatory Buyer Protection fee (4-8% of the item price) is applied to listings and included in the price the buyer sees when shopping. Learn more about Buyer Protection.

Advanced selling features are tools designed for higher-volume or scaling sellers and will be exclusive to sellers with a Pro subscription. These include:

• Multi-quantity listings (selling multiple units of the same item)
• Multi-variation listings (e.g. size, colour options in one listing)
• Volume pricing* (discounts for bulk purchases)
• APIs and third-party integrations for managing your business at scale* 

*Exclusive to sellers with a Pro Basic plan or above starting 1 May.

The $25,000 sales threshold in a rolling 12 month period is an eligibility cap, not a fee-free allowance. To qualify for free selling, your annual sales must remain at or under this threshold. Free selling will not be available to sellers with a Pro subscription (referred to as Pro sellers).
